Facilities

The Flying Monkey Yoga Studio was designed to immediately evoke a sense of calm and stillness upon entering. From its dark oak floors throughout the reception and therapy rooms to the ivory coloured cork floors in the yoga room; the space has been flawlessly planned and laboured over with love.

The actual yoga studio consumes nearly 900 ft², is full of light and has plenty of room to breathe.

The rest of the studio houses two generously sized male and female change rooms. Both washrooms are unisex and for added comfort a large reception area intended for clients to come together before or after their practice.

In renovating the space, we have, where possible, recycled much of the original fixtures and hardware. We are dedicated to being as eco-friendly as possible. In this regard, we will not be selling bottled water and therefore suggest that you bring your own water bottles to class.

We will have available yoga mats, but for both hygienic purposes and your comfort it is suggested that you have your own mat.

What's In A Name...

The name for the studio honors the Hindu deity Hanuman and is a dedication to our teachers past and present who embodied the same characteristics that Hanuman personified. When you walk through the studio you will see some of these teachers displayed reverently on the walls.

The most fundamental understanding of Hanuman is that he was devoted to love and when we align ourselves with this same devotion, our ultimate inner strength is aroused and anything is possible.

You can read about Hanuman in the great Indian epic, the Ramayana and learn the Chalisa (a 40-verse chant dedicated to the Flying Monkey's life of loving service) from Flow of Grace by Krishna Das.
