Practice Tips
- Most importantly be sure to tell your instructor of any physical or health issues you
may have. - Be on time. Allow yourself 15 minutes before class to check in, change and register.
- Ideally you want to use your own mat.
- Bring a small towel as you will likely sweat.
- Avoid loose or bulky clothing.
- Please turn off your cell phone.
- Avoid scented products as we never know who has allergies.
- Practice in bare feet.
- Practice 2-3 hours after a meal.
- It is recommended that women rest from practice during the heaviest days of their menstrual cycles.
- If you are waiting for a class to finish and yours to begin, remember that the students in the studio are likely in savasana (resting pose) so try to maintain peace and quiet in the space.
Other reminders:
When arriving at the studio, before coming to the second floor, we ask that you remove your shoes by the stairwell and bring all valuables with you. Please also consider the "no scents makes good sense" policy as many people these days have serious allergies to most scented products.
Most importantly remember that yoga is non-competitive - either with others and yourself - and open to everybody. Some classes may challenge you physically and emotionally, so remember that it truly is your practice and listen to what your body is telling you and never do anything that causes pain. You should never get injured from doing yoga mindfully and with respect to your own limits. Have fun, be willing to laugh at yourself and breathe.
